Making the Most of a Day By: Clarissa Dorenbusch and Evan Durkee [[Join the University]]

You've done it! You have made it to college! Through hard work and dedication, you have made it to where you want to be. Now, it's time to embark on the next four years of your life. There are so many possibilities on what you could accomplish, but first, there a couple things that you need to get done. [[Set up Classes, Housing, Advisor]]

You have to register for classes. After all, you're here to get an education, and you can't do that without taking classes. You also have to decide where to live. There are some nice dorms that seem really comfortable, but they are really expensive; you're going to have to choose somewhere else. In the meantime, you should meet with your advisor to discuss classes and any further actions that you should take. [[Class Registration]]

You're with you advisor, and you find out that all of those advanced classes you took in high school don't mean anything. Those credits didn't transfer. Luckily, there are some proficiency exams that may give you the chance to test out of some of those classes. Option 1: Retake the classes you took in high school. It has been a while since you've done the material. You might have forgotten some stuff. Option 2: Take the proficiency exam. You know all of the material. You decide to retake the classes. You might as well. You haven't even thought about the things you learned in high school. Going to the next level of classes might result in poor grades. Anyway, Discovery Week starts soon, and you better prepare. [[Discovery Week]]

You finished talking to your advisor. She gave you the times and places for the proficiency exams. They are in an hour and a half. WAIT! AN HOUR AND A HALF! You don't have anytime at all to study! What are you going to do! The location is already a thirty minute walk away. Well, it looks like you're going to have to hope for the best. You make to the location and take the exam. Afterwards, you don't feel good about it, and learn that you failed the test. If you only you had more time. If you only you had known sooner. Anyway, Discovery Week is tomorrow, so you can see how that goes. [[Discovery Week]]

As the time passes, Discovery Week approaches. You have your orientations and introductions! This will be great. You'll get to go fun events and meet lots of people, but uh oh. You have to wake up at 7:30 to get there on time [[First Week of Classes]]

First up: Calculus! You're very first class at college is today at 9:00am. You wake up in the morning, and you feel kind of tired. You have already taken a calculus 1 level class in high school, but you're credit didn't transfer. Option 1: You get out of bed and go to class. You're tired but it is very important to not miss the first day. Option 2: You go back to sleep. You've already learned the material. Going to class is just a waste of time. Discovery week was alright. You heard a lot of the same information repeated multiple times in a row. It seemed a little pointless, but that's over now and the first day of class is on the horizon. You have Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and AIQS which is a writing seminar. [[First Class: Calculus]]

You're sitting in class. It's a little boring but you see Francis who you met during discovery week. After class you say hi and you talk for a moment before parting ways. [[Go to your next class: Chemistry]] [[Take a break and skip your next class]]

You slide out of bed and go to chemistry. You missed calculus, so you probably shouldn't miss chemistry too. After chemistry, you decide to grab some [[lunch.]]

You decide to skip chemistry and get some food. You know you can't focus on an empty stomach. If you go to class, you would just be waiting until you could eat. It's just a waste of time. You go the dining hall. When you walk in, you don't see anyone you recognize, so you get some food and sit down. You eat for a while and sit there alone. You go back to sleep. If you're tired, you can't focus anyway. [[You doze off.]]

You're feeling quite hungry at the moment. You could go to your Chemistry class, but you can't focus on an empty stomach. You miss your chemistry class, but your physics class is now approaching. Option 1: [[Go to physics.]] Option 2: [[Don't got to physics.]]

While eating, you happen to cross paths with Francis, a person who you met during Discover Week. He was meeting some of his friends. He invited you to join him. You take some time to enjoy yourself. You explore some of campus, look at some new things, and oh, there's a board game club. You can check that out later. Your third class, physics approaches. Option 1: [[Skip physics.]] Option 2: [[Attend physics.]]

You sit at your desk with all of your materials and begin your homework. You are making good progress with your day. [[A few weeks from now...]]

You decide to go to chemistry. You sit down in a random chair. As you sit down, you see Francis again. Oh, you didn't know that he had chemistry with you. You get up and sit down next to Francis. You engage in small talk before the professor walks in and hands out a syllabus. You learn that there are numerous policies and resources that can help you obtain good grades. It's a good thing you attended class. After class, you get some lunch, but you have some extra time. You start walking to the dining hall, and ask Francis if he would like to join you. Francis says yes, and you two make your way to the dining hall. Once you arrive at the dining hall, Francis notices two people with whom he become acquainted. You two go and eat with the two other people, George and Sydney. You want to relax and chill before your next class. Makes sense. You have one more class for the day, physics. You go to physics and learn some good information. Now, you have the rest of the day. You decide that you have to leave the group to head to class. It seems like you made a good first impression with everyone. You cracked some good jokes, and fun was had by all. You'll see them later. Now it's time for your last class of the day, physics. Nothing too notable, just some regular first day things. After physics, you have some time on your hands. You were given some assignments to complete from each of your classes, but there are other things you could do too. You decide to skip your last class. Physics sounds dull anyway. It's a lot more fun to hang out people and build friendships. After a while, you need to make a choice on what to do for the remainder of the day. You feel a little tired, and want some time alone. You sit in your dorm. You have some work to do, but you don't feel like doing it. You'll complete the assignments later. You sit in your dorm and have just watched a couple episodes of your favorite TV show. You want a change in tone, so you start to play some video games. Before you know it, it's past midnight, and you haven't done anything you were supposed to do. [[Go to bed.]]

You sit down at your desk and do some homework. It's only the first day, but you still have some work to do. You pull out you computer, your notebook, and your pencil and start working. After about an hour or two, you finish everything. Phew, that wasn't so bad. That didn't take you nearly as long as you thought. You find your friends who you met during lunch. Francis, George, and Sydney seem like really cool people. You hang out with them for a while and have some fun. You're with your group, when suddenly you check your phone, and it's past midnight. You don't have any time to do your homework, but you've made some strong friendships. You get back to your dorm and remember that you have to wash your clothes. You went through the entirety of Discover Week and now all of your clothes are dirty. You place your clothes in the washing machine and clean up your room. After a while, you move your clothes over to the dryer and later finish your laundry. You finished all of your chores, and you get ready for bed. You feel nice and organized which puts you at ease for when you [[go to bed]]

You wake up on time for class, but then realize that you still have some homework to do. You must find time to get that done. [[In the future...]]

You get back to your dorm, and quickly get to bed. You're laying in bed when a sudden noise wakes you up. You look over and your alarm clock has been buzzing at you for twenty minutes now. You're late! Very Late! You rush out of bed and through the shower. You make it to class, but you're tardy and none of your work is done. You're sitting in class, but this day does not go well. You didn't learn much because you are so tired from the night before. You have attended all of your classes, but your grades have slightly suffered. On the up side you're social life is doing great. You wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready for the day. You have completed all of work, so no worries there. After on full day, you have made some friends and done well academically. Things are looking well for you. You're in the pink. [[For the rest of the semester...]]

At the end of you're first day. You have met some cool people, and you feel socially you're doing alright. Unfortunately, you're grades do share the same positivity. You attended your classes, which is great, but you did not do any of the work that you need to do. Your grades reflect this. [[A few weeks from now...]]

You sit down at your desk and do some homework. It's only the first day, but you still have some work to do. You pull out you computer, your notebook, and your pencil and start working. You feel good considering all of your homework so far is out of the way. You make your way to Physics where you sit and learn. As you walk to your next class. You see a shadowy figure in the midst of fog. In a bright sunny day, the fog just appeared from the depths of the earth, rendering your vision useless. Out from the clouds of smog, comes a bony hand. You stare in wild terror. You're completely frozen with fear. The hand swiftly snatches you and pulls into the smog. You close you eyes hoping to open them and find yourself in you bed, making this all one scary dream, but alas, this is reality. You open your eyes and see Eric Kaler standing with his arm around your shoulder. The song "Stars and Stripes Forever" begins fading into your hearing. "I have to tell you all about the market. Man, these shares are crazy." says Eric Kaler. You try to escape his grasp, but you fail. As he continues talking, you become weaker and weaker. You were never seen from again.
